Spiritual art portal

Welcome to Rev Joys spiritual art portal, within this portal there are 4 mini websites consisting of Christian art, Art in Mythology, Eastern religious art and the Holy bible through art.
There are many websites that offer the visitor a catalogue of artists and paintings, but there are not very many that go the extra mile and try to offer more. The spiritual art portal will go that one step further with a searchable database as well as the more traditional catalogue. Some paintings will have critiques with them as well as background information.

On every page you will find an index down the right hand side to guide you back to other parts of the site and for cross referencing with the current page you are on.
To access an image, for example, the annunciation; go to the index page for Mary, click on the link for annunciation, and this will show a list of images for that catagory, click on any image and it will take you to the picture.

Artists over the centuries have painted mainly Christian art, indeed, many of them worked for the Catholic churches in the renaissance and beyond. But as art became more and more accessable to the richer familes, artists were commissioned to paint not only the family portraits but other spiritual art as well, for example, mythological subjects were popular for some patrons of the arts. The links to those genres of art are on the right hand side of the page. happy viewing.
